How to Customize Your Senior Photo Session
As your junior year comes to a close, it's time to start thinking about how to celebrate this major milestone. Quite often, scheduling a senior photo session is part of the process of starting your senior year of high school. Not only will these photos serve as a reminder of your final year of high school, but they'll also capture your unique personality and style during this time in your life.
Whether you're more drawn to the editorial/high fashion style of photography or boho/whimsical style, below are a few tips to keep in mind to achieve your vision for your senior photoshoot.
1. Location is Key: When deciding on a location for your senior photo session, consider places that reflect the look you're going for. If you love the editorial look, consider places with high contrast, edgy or more urban vibes such as a parking garage, downtown area or a mural. Lighting is always always most important, so be sure to ask your photographer which options offer the best light AND achieve your desired aesthetic.
2. Multiple Outfits for more Variety: This is your chance to show off your personal style, so choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable and reflect your overall vision for your session. Unless you've booked a shorter session, chances are you'll have time for at least two if not three outfits, so don't be afraid to mix casual and formal or athletic looks. You'll also want to check in with your photographer to see if there are any colors/patterns they suggest and/or recommend you avoid.
3. Accessories add to the Story: Bringing props or accessories that you want to include in your photos, such as a musical instrument, sports equipment, or a favorite book offer a chance to add details to your story. Remember, you don't have to bring accessories if you don't want to. There are a variety of ways to incorporate your interests, so be sure to share these with your photographer for more ideas!
4. Have Fun! Senior photo sessions are a great way to celebrate your achievements and have fun with your friends and family. Don't overthink it and just enjoy the experience! This session should be a celebration of who you are in this moment, so don't let anything else take away from that!
